Thank you for your interest in our Teen Volunteer Program!

Our program for Spring 2017 is no longer accepting applications. Teens chosen for this semester's program will be contacted as soon as possible.

We believe in mentoring the next generation of volunteers! Our teen volunteers learn to work with animals in a safe manner while being monitored at our shelter. The teens learn about the shelter environment, participate in projects that help the animals and LHS ranging from making enrichment toys, grounds work and assembling adoption literature to assisting with event preparation.

  • Commitment to the Teen Volunteer Program spans 4 months. LHS will accept applications 2 times a year: at the beginning of the fall and spring semester.
  • The LHS Teen Volunteer Program accepts students between the ages of 14-17 years old.
  • The program has a $20 membership fee, which covers an LHS t-shirt to be worn during volunteering—fee is payable via cash, check, or credit card at orientation.
  • Completion of the application does not guarantee placement in our program as space is limited—LHS will contact you after your application is processed.
