What time should my child arrive?

Camp sessions run from Monday through Friday from 9am to 12pm. Please arrive no earlier than 8:50am and plan to pick up at 12pm. It is very important that campers be picked up on time because we do not have facilities nor staff to supervise children after camp is over. All campers must be signed in and signed out daily by their parent/guardian.

Where does camp take place?

Camp takes place at our Adoption Center Conference Room (Building D) at 1600 Old Frankfort Pike.

What if my child is late or cannot attend one or more days?

Some camp activities will build on those from previous days, so you might miss out if you are absent. However, if you will be late or need to miss a day, please let us know in advance. We cannot offer any refunds or pro-rated fees.

What will my child do during the week?

Animals, animals, animals! We’ll talk about many different kinds of animals and how the Lexington Humane Society cares for each of them. We will do a variety of activities, crafts, projects, and games. We will also have some guest speakers from the world of animal welfare.

Will my child get to spend time with animals?

Yes! Your child will meet cats, dogs, pigs, rabbits and rodents at camp. Your child will get a chance to hang out with adoptable animals and give them lots of TLC. You may want to reconsider this camp if your child has animal-related allergies.

Will a snack be provided?

A mid-morning snack (individually wrapped) and a drink will be provided. If your child has special dietary needs or based on your preference, you can pack a snack for them.

What should my child wear?

Your child must wear a face mask and comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. You never know when a dog will drool on you or a cat will shed some fur on your shirt! Your child must wear closed-toed shoes every day.
