Starlight

Why should I foster this dog?

Starlight Is a 5-year-old German Shepherd mix. She is currently undergoing heartworm treatments and is needing foster care until October 6th when she will be able to go up for adoption. She will need to be brought back for her next treatments on September 5th and 6th. Dogs undergoing heartworm treatments always require their activity level to be kept low/restricted for their own health and safety. As the killed heartworms are being broken up, they must slowly exit the heart. Exercise could elevate the heart rate and force out a large worm clot which could be life-threatening.

Starlight has been treated with a heartworm preventative that kills heartworm larvae, in addition to receiving treatment to kill adult heartworms, which means she is no longer contagious to other dogs.

Starlight is very friendly and sweet she is always searching for someone to pet her! She’s eager to sniff around a yard leisurely and is just as happy to be out as she is happy to be getting pets.

What else should I know?
