Request To Book A Volunteer Group At LHS

Thank you for thinking of the Lexington Humane Society for your group volunteer project!

We love having businesses, organizations, and corporations volunteer their time with us in support of our mission!

To schedule your service group, please contact the Director of Community Engagement at [email protected]. Please allow 4-5 business days for a response.

Time slots are offered Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends based on availability. Advanced reservations are required. We will do our best to accommodate the requested date. Thank you for your interest in helping LHS and the animals we all love so much!

Requirements & Guidelines

  • All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Group size. We ask that service groups be limited to groups of 10-15 at a time, if possible.
  • Wear comfy clothes! When you come to volunteer at the shelter, there are a variety of things you might be asked to assist with as a service group. Service group activities could possibly include dog playtime, kennel cleanup, cat cuddling and grooming, small animals socialization, grounds cleanup and maintenance, laundry, washing food bowls, lobby cleaning, etc. For your safety, please wear closed-toed shoes when volunteering.
  • 2 hour time slots. Most service groups will be scheduled for a minimum of 2 hours. The first hour will be helping with projects and cleaning around the shelter. The second hour will be playing with dogs or cuddling cats. More options available upon request.
  • Donations. Please consider bringing a monetary donation or items from our wish list for the animals when you visit.
