Lexington, KY – [September 28, 2026] The Lexington Humane Society (LHS) is thrilled to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the opening of their Patty & Dennis Foster Adoption Center, marking two decades of connecting animals in need with loving families throughout Lexington and Central Kentucky.
Since first opening its doors in 2006, 55,000 animals have found their new homes in the Adoption Center, located on LHS’s Susan M. Malcomb Humane Campus on Old Frankfort Pike. “The last 20 years have been about more than an Adoption Center—it’s been about people, compassion and second chances,” says Summer Jackson, President of LHS. “We’ve had the privilege of being part of life’s best moments, helping people grow their families through pet adoption and write new stories together. We’re grateful to our community for coming together to give animals brighter futures. Here’s to 20 years, more joy, more lives saved, and many more chapters together!”
The milestone also celebrates the generosity of Patty & Dennis Foster, whose support made the construction of the adoption center possible, and whose names have become part of the Lexington Humane Society’s history.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary, LHS will host a public celebration at the Patty & Dennis Foster Adoption Center on Saturday, November 21st. Past adopters, volunteers, foster parents, and community members are all invited to enjoy light refreshments and remembrances. Follow along as LHS hosts additional events, celebrations, and special moments in honor of the 20th anniversary over the next year.
Supporters of LHS and its mission are encouraged to contribute to the organization’s next 20 years by signing up for their Constant Companions Recurring Giving Program at $20 a month. They can do so at the following link: https://lexingtonhumanesociety.org/ways-to-give/constant-companions/
