Volunteers are the heartbeat of LHS, and we couldn’t do what we do without them! Whether walking dogs, snuggling cats, helping with laundry, or keeping kennels clean, volunteers directly impact the animals in our care. Volunteers also take part in annual events, offsite outreach, humane education, and even behind-the-scenes office work.

Who can volunteer?
Any potential LHS volunteers must:
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Be able to commit to a minimum 4 hours a month for at least 6 months.
How long after submitting an application should I hear back?
Between 3-5 business days.
If approved, you will receive an email notification saying your application is accepted.
How do I sign up for volunteer opportunities?
Once your application is approved, most communication and scheduling is done over email. There will be specific opportunities you can sign up for through our volunteer website.
Are there requirements to remain an LHS volunteer?
Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 4 hours a month for at least a 6 month period.
Volunteers must follow all LHS policies and procedures at all times.
