Favorite childhood memories from summer break often include experiences like going on a vacation or going to camp. Did you know LHS has the perfect camp for the critter-loving kiddo in your life?

Critter Camp, sponsored by Beaumont Family Dentistry, is hands-on and designed for kids between ages six and eleven who love animals and show interest in veterinary care or animal welfare. Each camp group spends the week learning about Lexington Humane Society Staff and different types of critters. Your camper will hear from guest speakers – a Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control officer, an adoption specialist, a volunteer, and certified therapy dogs.

Critter Camp is a great experience for kids to learn something new about how animals are cared for in their own community. Sessions are from 9AM-12PM or 2PM-5PM based on the weekly session. A parent or guardian is responsible for dropping off and picking up their camper each day.
Campers report to the conference room – where the fun begins! They’ll help make enrichment crafts for the animals, dog treats, and more as they learn about animal welfare in our community. They’ll also help kennel staff care for kittens, putting into action what they’re learning about how we should treat and care for animals.
