FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lexington, KY – August 25, 2025 – The Lexington Humane Society (LHS) is proud to announce that its main campus has been officially renamed the Susan Malcomb Humane Campus in recognition of Susan Malcomb’s extraordinary dedication and support of the organization.

For decades, former LHS president Susan Malcomb has been a steadfast advocate for animal welfare, leading LHS in providing compassionate care, facilitating adoptions, and promoting lifelong, responsible pet ownership. Her commitment has made a lasting impact on thousands of animals.

“This name change reflects the heart and commitment Susan has shown to our community and the animals who depend on us,” said Summer Jackson, LHS President. “Her legacy is woven into every life touched by LHS, and we are privileged to honor her this way.”

The newly renamed Susan Malcomb Humane Campus, located at 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, will continue to serve as the hub for adoptions, education, and outreach programs. Visitors will notice updated signage and recognition honoring Susan’s contributions.

LHS invites the community to celebrate this milestone and continue supporting the work made possible by Susan Malcomb by donating in her honor through the link below. https://lexingtonhumanesociety.org/thank-you-susan/

About Lexington Humane Society

Founded in 1889 by J. William Sayre, the Lexington Humane Society (LHS) is a 501(c)3 organization solely dependent on private donations, grants and community support. We receive no operating support from the government or national animal welfare groups, including Humane World for Animals (formerly HSUS) or the ASPCA.

Among other things, LHS is the largest pet adoption agency in Central Kentucky, we educate the community on responsible pet care and the compassionate treatment of all animals, and we spay/neuter the pets of qualifying families at a low cost.

Simply stated, we Give Love, Teach Love, and Adopt Love.
