Our Signature Events

  • Tails & Ales is our annual beer-tasting to benefit the animals. Attendees can sample beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages while listening to live music, playing games, bidding in the online auction, and hanging out with adoptable animals.
  • Mutt Strut is a 1.5-mile dog walk held every spring. The funds from Mutt Strut come at a critical time of year when the number of animals in need is at its highest, and donations are hard to come by. Participants can shop exclusive LHS merchandise, support local vendors, and mingle with hundreds of fellow animal lovers!
  • Doggie Paddle is Lexington's largest pool party just for dogs! While you visit with local vendors and shop exclusive LHS merchandise, your pup(s) can splash around with their furry friends.
  • Bark Bash closes out our calendar of events. This family-friendly fall festival features a pet costume contest, dozens of vendors, trunk-or-treat opportunities, live music, and so much more!

Get Involved

  • Become a Vendor: We know you share our passion for animals, and signing up as a vendor is a great way to support the animals while also getting exposure for your business.
  • Donate to the Online Auctions:  We accept donations of physical items, gift cards, or unique experiences for our online auctions year-round. These auctions are crucial in raising funds to help care for the thousands of animals we shelter each year.
  • Sponsor: Boost your brand visibility, foster community engagement, and support the animals through event sponsorships. Contact [email protected] for more information.

Host a Community Event

We refer to events hosted by members of the public as Community Events. The LHS fundraising team will work with you and support your event as we can, but you are in control of running the show!

  • Community Event Guidelines: Read over our guidelines to get an understanding of what is needed for event approval.
  • Community Event Application: Once you've read over the guidelines, fill out the application, and a member of the fundraising team will be in touch!
  • Questions? Email our community events coordinator, Allison Hall, at [email protected] or call 859-233-0044 ext 265.
