Check out these notes about Finn from our LHS volunteers!
“Finn is such an amazing dog with an old soul look in his eyes. We gave him a bath & although he doesn’t like getting wet, he politely sat through it with lots of treats, even being blow dried. He allows me to wipe his paws when we come in from a rainy day with no fuss & waits by the door until they’re wiped and clean! He loves to cuddle on the couch and will snuggle up to you, putting his head on your chest while snoring like an old man. He will also gladly go on 3-4 mile walks, or shorter bursts of running. He loves to run around a backyard and can jump surprisingly high up a tree, all in the pursuit of a squirrel. Catching one is his life mission so although he has excellent leash manners, walking beside you for the whole walk, if he sees a squirrel, he does tend to pull toward it but is easily corrected. I do find it’s easier to walk him on quieter streets, I think the sound of loud cars and traffic overstimulates him and he has a tougher time paying attention to commands, like when you tell him not to go after a squirrel. But he is amazing to walk with overall. He is cautious at first, but then definitely warms up to be pet by people and he has liked everyone we have met so far! He is crate trained & I have found he will go in there while you’re eating by himself. He lays and naps next to me while I study. It only took him 2 days to learn to sit and wait until I put the food bowl on the ground and give the “ok” command before he starts eating. He is very a very smart boy and acclimated to my routine within a week. He gets a little jumpy at loud noises, but if you tell him “it’s ok” he quickly shakes it off and goes on about his business. He will make an amazing forever buddy for someone!”
“Finn is great! He is a great dog! He listens well. He’s cuddly with me, he lets me pick him up, he has no problem with baths, he lets you touch his toes so I assume he would be great with nail trimmings. He warms up to them with consistent love and gentle pets. He is currently snoozing on my porch, a great kid!”
