Benefits of Owning a Cat

June is Adopt-A-Cat Month, sponsored by Nancy Barron & Associates, Inc!

Did you know there are several benefits to owning a cat? These furry friends can have a positive impact on your health and well-being and they make great pets. Here at LHS, we have lots of felines looking for families, and they’d love to show you just how great having a kitty companion can be! Still need convincing? Keep reading to learn how adopting a cat can be a great choice for you and your family!

😺 Cat owners are more likely to have better psychological health than people who don’t own pets. Caring and playing with your cat can give you a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction, and help to combat loneliness. Scientific evidence has shown that a cat’s purr can calm your nervous system and lower your blood pressure –which means better heart health, too!

😺 Cats are low maintenance; they can be independent and self-sufficient. Of course, they still need love and attention, but they generally require less time and resources than dogs. Cats also don’t need tons of space to play—having a warm spot for them to lounge in or a few nooks and crannies for them to explore is generally enough to keep them happy.

😺 Cats make great pets whether you live in a big house or tiny apartment, and they provide all the fun and play of larger animal companions. Just like any other animal, they have unique personalities and are sure to make you laugh, give you lots of snuggles, and make each day just a little bit brighter.

Stop by any of our adoption locations to visit the animals available and help us celebrate Adopt-A-Cat Month by giving one of our felines friends a purrfect forever home. We promise you won’t regret it!
