Program Highlight: Project Purrfect

In a perfect world, every cat would have a loving forever home. However, for a lot of our feline friends, this is not always the case. But until there is a perfect world, there is the Lexington Humane Society’s Project Purrfect.

Project Purrfect, sponsored by Nancy T. Barron II, is a program committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for cats until they find a forever home.

When visiting one of our adoption center cat rooms, you will notice cardboard boxes in cages and around play areas. Because the transition to the adoption floor can be difficult for many felines, we want to ensure cats have a safe and comfortable place to lounge until they get adjusted.

Did you know?
The placement of litter boxes, food dishes, and bedding remains consistent for each cat cage. This causes less stress for our felines if they need to move to a different location.

Time to explore
Thanks to the generosity of Nancy T. Barron II, our main Adoption Center has a large Habicattery for our feline friends to roam, explore and play while they wait for the purr-fect match. With bird baths and flowers placed strategically outside the windows, the LHS cats have a warm place to snuggle while watching the activity outside.

Spay and neuter
To date, LHS has provided nearly 40,000 spay/neuter surgeries and decreased the local homeless dog and cat population by 50%. Along with providing a safe and happy environment for cats in our facility, Project Purrfect is also committed to increasing awareness in the community relating to cat care and treatment as well as spay/neuter.

Because of your support, we have been able to do so much for the homeless animals in our community. With your continued support, we can do even more! Click here to make a donation to the Lexington Humane Society Project Purrfect program.
